Minibus
There are shared minibuses or vans services from
Phuket International Airport to Phuket Town and major beaches. The
minibuses tickets can be bought at a counter in Exit Lounge of the
airport.
Time: Nearly every hour or flight time.
Rates: 100 - 250 baht per person (depend on distance).
Destination: Phuket Town, Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Kata

Taxi
Taxis are good for one who doesn't want to drive.
There are both normal flat-rate taxis and metered taxis (always
have a sign "TAXI METER" on the roof) service in Phuket,
but most of them are flat-rate taxis.
Stop: Phuket International Airport, Intercity bus station,
in front of department stores, in front of big hotels.
Time: Service in day time, but in Phuket Town and some major
beaches you can find taxis 24 hours.
Rates: For flat-rate taxis, negotiating the fare with the
driver before departure is essential. For metered taxis, first 2
kilometers charge 35 baht, additional kilometers charge 4 - 5 baht
per kilometers.

Hire Car & Jeep
Renting a car is one of the most convenient and
safest ways to travel along the island and surrounding area. There
are wide ranges of cars and jeeps for hire in Phuket, from Suzuki
jeeps, Japanese sedan cars, pick-up trucks, to Luxury European cars.
Where: You can find car rental companies in Phuket Town,
Phuket International Airport, and all major beaches like Patong
Beach, Kata Beach and Karon Beach.
Time: Almost car rental agencies are opened daily from 8.00
a.m. till 18.00 p.m.
Rates: For jeep, rental rates are 700 - 1,500 baht per day.
For car, rental rates are from 1,300 Baht up to 3,000 baht per day.
*** Rental rates are depending on insurance type, service policy,
model and year of rental cars.

Hire Motorbike
Discovery Phuket on motorcycles is wonderful,
but you have to think seriously about weather if it's worth convenience
to rent a motorcycle. There are several types of motorcycle you
can rent in Phuket. 100 - 125 cc half-automatic Japan motorbikes,
100 - 125 cc automatic motorbikes, and over 125 cc bigger bikes.
Where: 100 - 125 cc motorcycles can be rented in Phuket town
along Ratsada Road, Phuket Road and Montri Road, and all major beaches
side. For big bikes, you can hire in Patong Beach, Kata Beach and
Karon Beach.
Time: Almost motorbike rental shops are opened daily from
8.00 a.m. till 18.00 p.m.
Rates: For 100 - 125 cc motorcycle, costs are 150 - 300 baht
per day. For 100 - 125 cc automatic motorcycle, costs are 250 -
500 baht per day. For above 125 cc big motorbike, costs are from
400 baht up to 800 baht per day.
*** Almost every motorcycle rental operator has no insurance included
in rental rates.

Tuk Tuk (Local Styled Taxi)
Four-wheeled small Daihatsu cars or Tuk Tuks
(not like three-wheeled Tuk Tuks in Bangkok) are ready to service
both local people and tourists everywhere in Phuket Town and popular
beaches. Tuk Tuks in Phuket normally are red or white color, and
sometimes have a sign "TAXI" on the roof.
Stop: Intercity bus station, in front of department stores,
catching along rode side.
Time: 6.00 a.m. to 21.00 p.m., but in major beaches like
Patong, Tuk Tuks are available all night.
Rates: Approximate 10 - 50 baht per person for destination
within same area. For long distances, passengers can negotiate with
the driver.

Motorcycle Taxi
Motorcycle Taxi (motorcycles that can be hired,
with driver) is quick and convenient for short distances, but not
so safe. Motorcyclists always wear red, blue or green vests.
Stop: Intercity bus station, in front of department stores,
groups of mortorcycle taxis on street side, catching along rode
side.
Time: Service in day time, but in Phuket Town and some major
beaches you can find Motorcycle Taxis 24 hours.
Rates: Approximate 10 - 30 baht for destination within same
area. For long distances, passengers can negotiate with the motorcyclists.

Songthaew
There
are blue small pick-up trucks with two rows of bench seats down
the sides (called Songthaew in Thai) or blue medium-sized buses
services between Phuket Town to many beaches along the island. Getting
around with Songthaew is the cheapest, but it is the slowest way.
Stop: Songthaew leave from bus stop in front of central market
in Ranong Road, Phuket Town.
Time: These buses leave every 20 - 30 minutes from 7.00 a.m.
to 18.00 p.m.
Rates: Approximate 15 - 35 baht per person (depend on distance).
North Destination: Sarasin Bridge, Naiyang Beach, Surin Beach,
Kamala Beach, Thalang District, Bangrong Pier
West Destination: Patong Beach, Kathu District
South Destination: Karon Beach, Kata Beach, Naiharn Beach,
Rawai Beach, Ka Cape, Chalong Temple, Chalong Bay, Makham Bay, Phanwa

Micro Bus
Micro Buses are green medium-sized buses, available
only in Phuket Town. Micro bus is a new service in Phuket, operated
since April 2002. There are only 2 routes: first route is from Saphanhin,
Phuket Road to Big C Super Center on Chaloem Phra Kiat Road (or
Bypass Road). Second route is from Phattana Thong Thin Road to Super
Cheap Department Store on Thep Krasatri Road.
Stop: Micro bus stop only.
Time: Every half an hour since 7.00 a.m. till 18.00 p.m.
Rates: 10 baht per person.
